From Before is a soft pastel painting of a view from my neighbors back field. There are scenes like this that transport me in time to when folks built barns together and, generally, lived more in community than I feel we do today. The huge dairy barn that sits on our property was the meeting spot for farmers and railroad workers for many years. They met at the end of the day to talk about life. I feel the essence of that in our barn. Thus, the title for this painting.
