Off the Beaten Path is a pastel painting of one of my favorite footpaths in the Wellfleet Audubon. You'll find many areas just off this path with circles of chicken wire protecting the spots where terrapin turtle eggs are resting. It is wild and free here and I love the sense that many hands are doing the work to protect the land and all it's inhabitants. If I lived on Cape Cod you would find me volunteering here. I've yet to witness the moment when a baby terrapin breaks out of it's shell to take the long walk to the sea. I'd be beside myself with joy.
