Roost is a pastel print of the view out of our bedroom window in a cottage in the tiny harbor village of Kinvara, Ireland. My husband and I took his mother to Ireland for her 80th birthday. She is 100% Irish and had never been. We based ourselves in Kinvara because of it's proximity to many wonderful things including family members in Galway Mary had never met. It was a most memorable trip.

Every night around sunset I noticed hundreds of crows flying from various directions and assembling in a few trees. It was an amazing sight and the sound of them until darkness was equally enthralling. There were countless 'conversations' going on.

I googled 'roosts' and found out many fascinating facts about crow and other bird roosts. I painted a watercolor on location and then painted this larger piece in pastel upon my return.

Roost measures 11.25" x 17.25" and is sold unframed.
