Solitude is a one of many paintings I did in the winter of 2021/2022 based on a September vacation to the Adirondacks. I had just retired from full-time teaching so it was an exciting option to go on holiday after the new school year had commenced. It was such a natural setting for this plein air painter so enamored with places where sky meets mountain, trees meet water, leaves meet air. I will no doubt return this spring though not during a school vacation.
