To the Sea is printed from an original pastel painting of somewhere that stopped me in my tracks in Maine though I can't recall exactly where. There are so many coastal places I have fallen in love with over the years. I feel so alive, calm, and centered by the sea. My focus while painting this piece was on the contast of the movement of the water to the stillness of the land. I loved painting the marsh grasses with the broad side of Terry Ludwig soft pastels. Even in the stillness there is motion.
