Path of Light is a pastel painting done on location in Schoarie, NY in the heat of July when the hostas are blooming. Warm and cool colors were in perfect harmony and the contrast of the purple hosta flowers to the yellow grasses was outstanding. 

I was invited to paint on plein air on a private property where the owner had turned a great deal of his fertile land into gardens of all descriptions. My favorite section was his hosta garden. Pine needle paths lead through more species of hosta than I knew existed, all beautiful in their own unique ways. The owner also built whimsical birdhouses from trees on his land and they were dotted about everywhere. This painting is the result of a fabulous experience.
