The card that accompanies these sailboat paintings shows the second stanza of the John Masefield poem Sea Fever.
'I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea gulls crying...'
Made from clam shells cut and fashioned into the shapes of boats and sails, these vessels seem to actually glide across the watercolor background. The painting is complimented by a distressed, white, barn-wood frame. One is a Sunset Sail and the other a Noon-Time Sail. All pieces are unique. Expect variations. Dimensions of the frame are 4 1/2" x 3 1/2".
