The Thimble Islands lay just off the shore of Stony Creek in Branford, CT. Many islands have summer homes, some year-round residents, while many have no buildings at all. Building on the pink granite is no easy feat and the requirements are much more stringent since the hurricaine of 1938 that wiped many of the structures right off the rocks.

I met the man who built this bridge between two independent islands. Though not without its’ challenges he said, the experience was rich in metaphor and many hands made joyous the work.

Linked original watercolor is sold in a gold frame that measures 3.75" x 4.75". The print comes with a white mat and backing measuring 3" x 4".
