This original soft pastel painting is of a special spot in Amherst near where a very dear friend grew up. The Amherst Reservoir is beautiful any time of day and any season. The picture I took and used as a reference for this painting is monochromatic as it was a grey day. I let my imagination go to work on the color choices. If it's not obvious through so much of my work, I love painting water. It's challenging to my technical skills, soothing to my eyes, and calming to my mind.
