SAVE THE DATE: Satuday August 14, 2021 (rain date Sunday August 15) 9:00am - 1:00pm
I am thrilled to announce my first official event since going live with my website! On Saturday August 14 (rain date Sunday August 15), I will be hosting an Art Sale and Garden Tour on our property in Montague from 9:00am -1:00pm. My paintings will be displayed around the barns and through the gardens. Framed and unframed original paintings, matted prints, and cards of many of the images will be available for purchase. I will do live demonstrations to share the wonderful process of soft pastel painting.
I’m sprucing up and organizing the Milk Barn Studio so I can welcome guests to walk through and ask questions regarding the materials and methods I use for my pastel paintings, watercolors, as well as my line of mixed media art and jewelry. Smaller items will be for sale in the studio.
I have a lot of work to do before August 14 including remembering the names of some of my garden plants that I have forgotten over the years. They seem to be the ones people most often ask about. I love to garden because it's a form of meditation for me, like painting en plein air, in which I can focus on color, the pattern of light, movement, and composition while listening to bird calls and getting my hands in the soil. I have designed my gardens to feed the pollinators, inspire passersby with beauty and tranquility, and bring smiles and laughter to folks of all ages through whimsical art installations tucked among the flowers and greenery.
I plan on setting up tables and chairs under our maple trees with light refreshments. The trees will provide shade and the company will undoubtedly provide inspired conversation. It will also give visitors the opportunity to double-check their answers for the treasure hunt. Oh! I haven’t mentioned the treasure hunt yet.
The treasure hunt details are yet to be determined but the treasure will be an original, framed pastel painting. I want the hunt to be fun and accessible to all. Plus, one of my paintings will have a new home.
And speaking of ‘giveaways’, I’m giving a piece of my art or design work away once a week for the next few weeks on Instagram and Facebook. It’s easy to enter; like the post, follow me, and tag friends. I announce winners on Fridays.
If you have any questions about the Art Sale and Garden Tour, please email or message me. Also, RSVP for directions and to give me an idea of how many scones to bake.
